Sleep tips to follow to help ensure a good night sleep.
- Set a bedtime routine (times and rituals) then stick to it, make it realistic so it’s easy for you or your child to follow.
- Come off any stimulating games at least 1 1/2 before bedtime. The light from these activity’s make our brain think it’s still daylight.
- Also the games played could transfer into our sleep inducing nightmares!
- Play card... games, Lego, play dough, read a book to help aid relaxation and put you in a calm place before bed.
- Take a bath or have a shower(if it doesn’t wake you up!) before bed.
- If your hungry, eat a banana, slice of turkey, warm milk, a slice of brown bread toast and other foods that are a great source of natural chemicals like melatonin that help us to sleep.
- Use relaxing music or if you’re a parent read a story to your child at bedtime.
