Careers & Futures
At NeneGate School we aim to equip our students with the knowledge, skills and attributes to achieve their full potential in learning and work. All students will be encouraged to consider their future aspirations, and working closely alongside post 16 providers, we will enable them to make informed decisions about post 16 routes and the relevant pathways.
With the support of the Good Career Guidance: Perspectives from Special Education Needs and Disabilities Document and the Careers and Enterprise Company’s SEND Gatsby Benchmark Toolkit we are working towards embedding careers in KS2, KS3 and KS4, and working towards meeting the Gatsby Benchmarks. NeneGate School uses these documents alongside support from Melanie Sanderson, Enterprise Coordinator from Growth Works. Melanie provides support and advice as we develop NeneGate’s career pathway.
If you need any further information regarding our careers programme and strategy, please contact James Leeman (Careers Leader).
Students
NeneGate School aims to support all our students to become career managers throughout their lives. Careers lessons are delivered across all subjects as well as through the Well Being curriculum. We are here for you so if you need help please ask your Careers Leader, James Leeman, or any other member of staff.
Below you will find a range of websites that can help you in making your choices about learning and employment in the years ahead.
Parents/Carers
Studies have found that parents and carers are the most important people in helping young people make decisions about the future. It is helpful if you understand the choices that your children have so we have included a range of websites that will help you with this.
We will communicate with you on a regular basis about the careers support we are providing to your child.
If you have any questions about our careers programme or how you can help your child please contact our Careers Leader, James Leeman.
Employers
At NeneGate School we are preparing your future work force for the world of work, helping them to develop the employability skills they need for success in the workplace.
To make this preparation realistic we need the support of local employers. Your involvement can help bring careers to life and provide inspiration for our students. We are always looking for employers to support our careers programme, if you can help, please contact our Careers Leader James Leeman.
