Physical and Social Development & Life Skills

Welcome to the NeneGate's PSD & Life Skills department.

PSD

PSD education gives students the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe and to prepare them for life and work in modern Britain.
Personal Social Development (PSD) education uses topics from the Gatsby Foundation to enable students to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. These skills and attributes help students to stay healthy, safe and prepare them for life and work in modern Britain. When taught well, PSD education helps students to achieve their academic potential, and leave school equipped with skills they will need throughout later life.

Life Skills

Students undertake a WJEC Entry Pathways Qualification which is credit based. Students can achieve a Level 2 or Level 3 at Award, Certificate or Diploma level.
Topics covered include:

  • Developing self
  • Dealing with problems
  • Environmental awareness
  • Individual rights and responsibilities
  • Managing money
  • Preparation for work
  • Healthy living
  • Parental awareness
  • Working as part of a team
  • Technology in the home and community
  • Personal safety in the home and community

Similarly, to PSD, Life Skills enable students to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. These skills and attributes help students to stay healthy, safe and prepare them for life and work.
