Outdoor Curriculum

Outdoor Curriculum

Welcome to the NeneGate's Outdoor Learning department.

Outdoor Learning
Learning need not take place solely within educational buildings.  Outdoor time provides memorable learning experiences and helps our students make sense of the world around them.  We believe that every child should experience the world beyond the classroom as part of their learning and personal development.

Students are given the opportunity to take part in:
  • Mountain biking
  • Team Games
  • First Aid
  • Visits to local parks to develop social skills
  • Archery
  • The countryside code

Students in years 7 and 8 are given the opportunity to complete the Bikeability course at Level 1 to 3.

Outdoor Creative
These activities off staff and students time to build relationships without the pressure of academia.  We work on skills such as team building, leadership, enjoying the countryside, looking after animals, fitness and map reading.  Depending on the weather, these activities will either take place outside or inside (bowling, swimming, snooker, ice-skating).  Occasionally we will visit a café/restaurant to support skills in socialising and acceptable manners.
