Maths

Maths

Welcome to the NeneGate's Maths department.

Key Stage 3
In key stage 3 students look at number, calculations, shape space and measure, handling data and using and applying mathematics. KS3 students are assessed at the end of each topic.

The studies at KS3 will lead on to OCR Entry Level Maths and Edexcel GCSE Maths. We teach the topics to ensure that students have a mathematical understanding in preparation for adulthood. Maths helps us to have better problem solving skills, to think analytically and to have better reasoning abilities. Analytical and reasoning skills are important because they help us to solve problems and look for solutions in real life.

Key Stage 4
In year 10 and 11 the topics include
  • Number and calculations
  • Algebra
  • Geometry
  • Ratio
  • Probability
  • Fractions
  • Statistics

All students complete the entry level qualification in year 10.  Students are assessed during year 11 to deem if they are ready for the GCSE qualification.  We offer the following qualifications.
  • Entry Level – OCR
  • GCSE (1-9) – Edexcel
